Each outdoor education experience is unique. Gilmont staff will spend time both before and after a residential program visiting with students.

Pre-Teach

The intention of the pre-teach is to visit students while they are in their classroom. This helps the students understand there is a connection between school and outdoor school. During this time an Outdoor School Teacher will teach students about philosophies of the program, build anticipation about the lessons, and start to build anticipation for the trip.

Post-Teach

The Post-Teach conversation between the Outdoor School Teacher and the class helps to solidify the connection between the Gilmont experience and school.  The Post-Teach visit includes writing letters, developing a word web, and participating in conversations with the students.
