Caring For Students

SAFETY
Each child's safety, health, and wellness is of utmost importance at all times. Gilmont follows the highest camping industry standards as outlined by the American Camp Association for all activities. The list of standards has depth and breadth to insure the best camping experience possible for the students. Gilmont is happy to address specifics, so feel free to ask.
HEALTH AND WELLNESS
A nurse resides at Gilmont throughout the week at outdoor school. Students with prescribed medications will see the nurse for distribution of their medications. Epi-pens and inhalers will be carried with the classroom backpack at all times.
MEAL TIME
Meals are a favorite time of day at Outdoor School. Family-style meals where we practice setting the table, using good manners and striking up conversations about our day's activities, are all part of the dining experience. Each class gets a turn taking care of setting up and then cleaning up the dining hall.
SPECIAL DIETS
Parents of students with food allergies or special dietary needs will be in communication with the Food Service Director before camp. It is absolutely necessary for these students to be knowledgeable about what foods they can or cannot eat, and that they are aware of their dietary needs and cooperate with their dietary plan.

"The second day was our turn to set the table and clean up. The food was amazing! I am a picky eater but I tried everything and loved it! ...Camp Gilmont Rocks!"
