The Gilmont Outdoor School Residential Program
Residential Fifth Grade Program
|
The prototype residential outdoor school program is four (4) days and three (3) nights and targets students in the fifth grade.
This immersion experience, where students are separated from their everyday world, often has life changing results. Students and teachers benefit in many ways. Residential curricula focus on science, mathematics, social studies, self-confidence and team building. Activities during the week include: team building initiatives, forestry, aquatic biology, astronomy, orienteering, geology, and pioneering. Curriculum is correlated to the state objectives. Outdoor School Camper Quote: Thank you for the best camp experience I have ever had. I never knew that learning could be so much fun! My experience here has brought me a lot closer with my classmates. My favorite activities were when we did aquatic science with the macro-invertebrates and when we did the energizers. I have really noticed after we went to camp the class has had much better communication, before camp they were just yapping away. Ever since I have had the Camp Gilmont experience I have had a goal to stick with the four C’s, commitment, care, communication, and cooperation, Again thank you so very much. |
